We are currently recruiting a dynamic, strategic Head of Service for Education Improvement.
We have a vision to improve outcomes in education and skills in the county and this role is intrinsic to this.
We are moving at a fast pace on our journey, and we are looking for an experienced, successful professional to lead the drive for improvement, and deliver the Education and Children’s Services vision of ensuring children, young people and their families are safe, healthy and achieve their full potential.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about improving the lives of children in Lancashire and will act as the Strategic Lead for Education Improvement for ages 0-25 across Lancashire with statutory responsibility for school improvement. As of September 2021, there are 175,701 pupils at 628 schools/academies and an additional 2386 children attending 24 maintained nursery schools.

Annual leave
You will be entitled to 25 days’ annual leave, plus 10 statutory and extra statutory days. Your leave entitlement will increase to 31 days after 5 years’ continuous local government service and we are happy to support continuity of service should this be in an authority outside of their own. You will also be able to purchase up to an additional 20 days leave through their Leave Purchase Scheme and unused leave is welcome to be banked for future years (max. 5 days p.a.)
Pension
We have a generous local government pension with shared AVC’s available. If you are not already a member of the Local Government Pension Scheme, you will be brought into the scheme when you take up your position.
