The Jed Foundation (JED) is seeking an experienced Mental Health Educator with strong health promotion and facilitation skills and knowledge of youth mental health and suicide prevention. The Mental Health Educator’s primary responsibility is to facilitate workshops, training, and other educational programming for high school and college students, educators, families, and student support staff nationally about youth mental health and suicide prevention. Under the direction of the Senior Manager of Educational Programming, the Mental Health Educator will also support the planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of mental health education sessions with the goal of improving audiences’ knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors related to youth mental health. The ideal candidate will have excellent presentation, administrative skills, and the ability to build strong partnerships with external partners and internal cross-functional teams. The Mental Health Educator will also be responsible for the administrative support of the workshops, training, and other educational programming. The educator keeps current with practices and trends in youth mental health education and suicide prevention.

Key Responsibilities

Training, Program Facilitation and Administration:

• Facilitate engaging and informative youth mental health education workshops, training, and presentations to a variety of audience types and sizes both virtually and in-person in various locations around the United States.
• Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams and external partnership organizations to coordinate the development and delivery of youth mental health and suicide prevention workshops, training, and other educational programming.
• Assist in the development of new workshops and trainings based on identified community needs and trends.
• Assist in maintaining inbound workshop request flow, the educational programming tracking calendar, and Asana program management boards calendar and for JED’s workshops and educational programming
• Assist in the recruitment and management of team members to deliver workshops.
• Assist in developing working relationships with external organizations interested in JED’s educational programming.
• Provide support for intake meetings, and management of invoices, contracts, and event logistics.
• Assist in tracking participation in workshops and logging session information in Salesforce (CRM) and Asana.

Skills Knowledge And Expertise

• Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred in Public Health, Social Work, Health Education, or a related field.
• Minimum one year of experience in mental health, public health, health education, or related field.
• Minimum two years of experience in public speaking through workshops, conference presentations, panels, workshops, or training.
• Minimum one year of experience in project, program, and/or partnership management.
• Commitment to decreasing disparities in mental health and demonstrated ability to use cultural humility in program delivery.
• Experience working with youth, caregivers, and/or educators.
• Understanding of education systems (high schools, districts, colleges, universities, fraternities and sororities, etc.) is a plus.
• Excellent communication and partnership management skills.
• Highly organized, with attention to detail..
• This job does require the ability to travel up to 40% of the time around the United States.
• Experience working in mental health promotion.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and/or weekends.

The range listed on this job posting is based on JED’s compensation posting ranges. Salaries may be higher or lower depending on experience and geographic location.

Location/Travel Information:

Please note that this position is HYBRID (minimum 1-3 times onsite), and the remainder will be work-from-home. This role will require retreat/business meetings at JED’s central office in NYC or other locations as designated by JED leadership. Additional travel may be required.
