The Department of Computing and Mathematics is a successful academic community of students and staff committed to achieving high-quality teaching, research, and enterprise. In REF2021 28% of our research was rated world leading and 86% internationally excellent or better. We are committed to continued improvement in the quality and volume of this research.
Ideal candidate
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated individual who is committed to providing an excellent learning experience for our students on the Mathematics Undergraduate Network and Foundation Year. With at least a first degree, and ideally a postgraduate qualification, in Mathematics you should be flexible, have a student centred approach, experience of teaching/designing learning materials, and a good knowledge of HE student support. A good communicator, you will be able to develop highly effective working relationships with students, teaching staff and support staff.
Role
The post holder will be expected to provide teaching and support for students at a range of levels on the Mathematics Undergraduate Network and Foundation Year. The successful candidate will provide drop-in support, monitor & review the academic progress of students, design & implement appropriate interventions, provide individual/group support and design and deliver support workshops in Mathematics, Data Analysis and study skills. They will be expected to provide a high quality student experience and positively enhance student satisfaction. The post offers an excellent opportunity for those wishing to pursue or develop careers in higher education.
